¡°Tongue¡¯s memory of home¡± Body Theatre 2005
This works is about the seek of a city which exists between illusion and reality in the poems in eighties of those Shanghai poets like Wang Yan, Lu Yi Min, Zhang Zhen. It wants to research how people feel the existence of himself/herself among walls, fences, ruins and longliness when the city is being constructed and then abandoned. In the industrial age, an individual is dark and fragile. Everybody¡¯s tongue, as a speaking tool, makes people forget the mysterious independence of our organs which belong to ourselves. In this works we design a neutral space where people are locked up. The performers are making love most of the time and dance on the floor with successive sleep talking. Threat and repression have excited uncertain sadness and happiness. Tongues are exposed freely. This is a metaphorical expression of the unrestrained revolt of the body.
