“We once lived in this world”

This works is embodied in area A and area C (see picture). Area B is where we operate the works. Area A and area C are separated by area B. During the exhibition the door of area A is sealed off by a red and blue plastic sack.. The yellow light shoots at the sack from area B. In the wall upon the door of area A there is a blank and white display screen of 7 inches where we play a video of the police attacking a prostitution site. The door of the area C is sealed off by a wood board and brushed with paint which looks like a white wall. Then we drill a hole where can be put a nose and a mouth and an actor reads the poems of a second-rate poet: “We once lived in this world” and sings the song of Zhen Zhi Hua “Don’t cry, my love!”.

These areas A, B, C composed of a very interesting structure.. They divide this works into two independent spaces which give this works the significance of complicated reality and transience.

The understanding of the works is related to the social ranking. The feelings and expressions are restrained, so this type of embarrassment and and unablility to do things as one likes to explain the objective of this works.

From the display screen we can hear the dialogue between the police and the prostitutes in Sichuan dialect. The policeman is talking with the prostitute and whoremasters with a fooling tone. They tell the prostitutions don’t look at other place, turn around, raise the head, put down the hands etc. During this video, the privacy and instinct are violated. Human’s desire for sex stops here when the sex is treated as a good. They can’t get dressed, even they can’t take condom down. Everything is proof.

The right is playing with the embarrassment

At the red and blue plastic sack we write in chinese and English words like ¨Cock¨¨between refusal&consent¨¨Chastity¨. It′s difficult to recognize those Chinese characters due to the strange way of writing them.

In the area C the recitation and the song can′t bring us happiness. Even the recitation of the performer is a little countrified.

Opposite the little hole there is a torch. During the performance the light falls just into the mouth of the performer that is just like the light beam in the dark stage. Visitors often obstruct the light beam which lights the performer′s mouth gleamingly.

Illusion is belief for some people.

Area A is a space of reality. Area C is a space of illusion.
